NOVEMBER 2021: PUBLIC OUTREACH COMMITTEE POSTS THE NEW STORY MAP ON THE CPWAC/CPWP WEBSITE
During the past year the annual 4th Grade Water Ethics Contest was put on hold due to the pandemic. In their continued public outreach efforts, the Public Outreach Committee used funds they would have used for the 4th Grade Water Ethics Contest to produce a story map for the CPWAC/CPWP website. The story map is in its intial stage and we hope to have more information available as our participants realize the value of showcasing their projects and attractions.

RIO DE FLAG CLEANUP - MAY 2016
The Public Outreach Committee joined with Coconino County on May 26 in their Clean a Stream event. Lots of trash was removed despite dealing with much overgrowth along the Ft. Valley Road route. Next time we will bring machetes!

EARTH DAY 2016
The Public Outreach Committee participated in an extremely windy Earth Day celebration in Flagstaff on April 23, 2016. Despite the conditions causing popup tent roofs to go flying, the Plinko Board, watershed model and groundwater model were big attractions. Special thanks to the P.O.C. members for their efforts!

FOURTH GRADE CLASSES INVITED TO PARTICIPATE IN CONTEST
Invitations have been sent out to fourth grade classes to participate in the 2015 Water Ethics Contest. Entries are due the end of March. Interested teachers should contact Amanda Acheson (aacheson@coconino.az.gov)or Ron Doba (rdoba@cox.net).
 


SEDONA STUDENTS AND TEACHER WIN WATER ETHICS AWARD
Sedona Charter School's upper elementary class received the 2014 water ethic awards from the Public Outreach Committee. Every year a fourth-grade water ethic contest is held throughout the Partnership area to bring water awareness into the classrooms. A poster is developed from the winning entries and displayed at POC events. The winning teacher receives $500 to be used in the classroom and the winning class gets a pizza party.

EARTH DAY 2013
On April 20, 2013, the Public Outreach Committee participated in the Earth Day event held at Flagstaff City Hall. Thanks go out to Amanda, Ellie, Zach, Peter and Ron for staffing the booth. The event provided another opportunity to share information about the activities of the Coconino Plateau Water Advisory Council and provide educational information on water conservation.

FLAGSTAFF FESTIVAL OF SCIENCE 2012
The Public Outreach Committee staffed a booth in Wheeler Park during the Flagstaff Festival of Science event on Saturday September 22, 2012. The booth's many visitors were able to get their questions answered about water resource planning currently taking place while young people had the opportunity to create water flows on a simulated watershed model of Mt. Elden. The event provided another opportunity to share information with the public about the Coconino Plateau Water Advisory Council.

EARTH DAY 2012
On April 21, 2012, the Public Outreach Committee participated in the Earth Day event held at Flagstaff City Hall. The event provided the opportunity to share information about the activities of the Coconino Plateau Water Advisory Council and hand out educational information to individuals on how they can help to conserve our water supplies.
